Subject: Summary of Different Types of Notarizations

To All WFG Agents doing business in Indiana,

If you are like me, your heads are probably spinning with all of the different types of notarizations that everyone in the title industry is talking about lately.  Currently, there are five (5) different notarization methods in use throughout the country.  The five notarization types are as follows:

  1. RON – Remote Online Notarization
  2. PRON – Paper Remote Online Notarization
  3. RIN – Remote Ink Notarization
  4. TWIN – Traditional Wet Ink Notarization
  5. IPEN – In Person Electronic Notarization

For an explanation and summary of these five notarization methods, please see the attached chart titled Notarization Types and Terminology which was recently published by ALTA, the American Land Title Association.  This chart provides a great explanation of the different notarization methods as well as a summary of the main differences between each method.
